UTN Awards Its First Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship

The University of Technology Nuremberg (UTN) has awarded its first Deutschlandstipendium scholarship. Robin Sternberg is the first student at UTN to receive the scholarship. The funding is made possible by TRATON R&D Germany GmbH, the first company to sponsor a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship at UTN.

Robin Sternberg impressed the selection committee not only with his academic achievements but also with his commitment to the UTN community. The master’s student in the AI and Robotics degree program founded the UTN Outdoor Club. Through shared outdoor activities, the club brings people together and helps international students in particular explore the region.

At the award ceremony, Founding President Prof. Dr. Michael Huth highlighted the importance of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship for the young university. He described the first award as an important milestone in expanding scholarship opportunities for students and as a sign of confidence in the talent at UTN. “The Deutschlandstipendium is much more than financial support. It reflects our confidence in young people and their ability to help shape the future,” said Founding Vice President for Education and International Affairs Prof. Dr. Isa Jahnke.

The Deutschlandstipendium provides high-achieving and highly engaged students with 300 euros per month for 12 months. The scholarship is funded jointly by the German federal government and private sponsors, with each contributing half of the funding. In addition to academic excellence, the selection process also considers community engagement, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to overcome personal challenges. UTN extends its sincere thanks to TRATON R&D Germany GmbH for becoming the university’s first sponsor of the Deutschlandstipendium program.
