Abstract: This project considers the integrated planning of locomotive and wagon set rotations for a major Polish rail freight carrier, DB Cargo Polska.
The aim of this project is to come up with production-ready optimization algorithm, solving the problems of integrated locomotive and wagon set rotations in an integrated fashion in the context of DB Cargo Polska’s operations. For that end, we will perform an analysis the planning requirements which will then be converted into one or more optimization models, corresponding to the challenge at hand. Next, a solution algorithm will be designed and implemented. It will then be integrated into the planning software by our partner software developer Nodus.
