Energy-efficient timetable optimization for the Nuremberg subway

© MEV-Verlag

Funding: VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft

Abstract: The project on energy-efficient timetabling for the Nuremberg U-Bahn aims to minimize traction energy consumption and reduce electricity costs. Collaboration between our experts, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, and VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft aims to develop innovative algorithms. The software considers energy-efficient driving and intelligent coordination to increase the regenerative braking ratio. The optimized timetable creation aims to reduce peak power demands, lower overall power consumption, and maximize the utilization of braking energy. Once developed, the software is to be transferred to the regular operation of timetabling at VAG.
