NUEDIGITAL – Sustainable, car-free and energy-efficient: UTN’s new campus

Date: 3. July 2024Time: 17:00 – 18:00Location: Ulmenstraße 52h, 90443 Nürnberg, Seminarraum 31

The new campus of the Technical University of Nuremberg is forward-looking. Find out more about the sustainability concept and the current status from our construction manager Jenny Richter.

The campus of the Technical University of Nuremberg is being built on the site of the former southern railway station. The concept is intended to underline the forward-looking profile of the UTN. Topics such as mobility, climate neutrality, sustainability and digitalization played a central role in the selection of the planning design.

The various buildings on the campus are distributed around a green heart on the 37-hectare site. Each of them is designed with its own character and in line with the latest standards. Here, all departments will find their place on an equal footing around the identity-forming center of the campus.

Cube One provides an outlook. UTN will move into the first building on the campus this year. The six-storey timber construction is characterized by very low energy requirements and meets the passive house standard. A photovoltaic system on the roof generates part of the energy required. In addition, extensive greenery on the façade serves as natural sun protection and biological air conditioning.

In her presentation, construction manager Jenny Richter looks at the current construction and planning progress and shows what the campus of the future will look like and how the topic of sustainability is being implemented at the UTN.

The event will take place in English. Registration for the event via the website of Nürnberg Digital Festival.
